White Fillings
We have all heard of ‘fillings’ for our teeth and many of our patients require a filling to restore decayed or teeth containing cavities, they are one of the most common dental treatments.
A composite filling is a resin and glass mixture used to restore decayed or broken teeth… White fillings are used as an alternative to the older, amalgam (silver) fillings, which are aesthetically poor and contain mercury.
White or tooth-colored fillings provide a more natural, mercury-free alternative to traditional silver amalgam fillings and are a popular choice as they blend perfectly into your natural teeth meaning that no one need even know they are there.
They provide good durability and resistance to fracture in small- to mid-size fillings that need to withstand moderate day to day pressures.
For broken or missing teeth, white fillings would not be suitable and you would need to consider bridges or crowns.
